Dancers MandalaAround the Sacred Fire we dance, chant, and rattle, always moving in a circle. You'll find that sometimes the movement is always in one direction, sometimes in another, and sometimes multiple "rings" or "layers" of movement circle both ways around the fire at the same time. The outer ring is generally slower, and is a good place to circulate while making eye contact with others. The innermost ring is generally faster (partially due to the heat!) and the tracks in the middle are somewhere in between. For the safety of yourself and for others, it is important to be aware of what is around you. If you feel yourself going into trance or another deep state, you can ask for assistance from rattlers or other dancers in keeping space open for you to continue your circuits safely. Stopping in place within the circle will most likely cut others off from the firelight, heat, and other dancers, and block the movement of the dancers. If you need to stand still while dancing, it is best to step outside the circle (we'll have beautiful areas to dance in place set up.) |
